Launching the Norwich Institute for Sustainable Development, Prof Nitya Rao will introduce the work of the institute, and will host our first speaker, Dr Peter Emmrich, John Innes Foundation Fellow, who will speak about his applied research on grass pea

Grass pea is one of the last crops to survive in times of weather extremes making it a reliable ‘insurance crop’ for farmers. This same crop however can be toxic, leading to irreversible paralysis, if eaten in large quantities for long periods of time. In this presentation Peter Emmrich shares his research on grass pea and how scientists are trying to bring safe grass pea varieties to farmers.
